Academic first, unforgettable throughout

Roughly 70% of the programme is academic: workshops, guided practice and the collaborative challenge. The remaining 30% is time in San Sebastián that is designed to connect people — not filler between sessions.

Summer 2027. Exact dates will be announced on this website and sent to everyone on the priority list.

The Four-Day Journey

Four days, four questions every scientist must answer

Each day pairs a distinct academic theme with time to experience San Sebastián. Mornings are for focused workshops; the city opens up in the afternoons and evenings.

Trust

Day 01

The Science of Trust

Research Integrity & Quality

Why research is believed — and what it takes to deserve that trust. The programme opens with the principles and everyday practices that make scientific work reproducible, transparent and defensible.

Clarity

Day 02

Beyond the Data

Scientific Communication & Empathic Listening

Results only matter if they are understood. A day on presenting complex work with clarity — and on listening well to colleagues, reviewers and the public.

  • Communicating research to different audiences

Leadership

Day 03

Leading Science, Leading People

Scientific Leadership & Collaboration

The Collaborative Challenge

Learn it by doing it properly

Running through all four days is an integrated group challenge: a scientific project in which participants put the week's principles into practice — individually and as a team.

  1. Individual contribution

Each participant prepares and documents their own share of the work.

  2. Defined project roles

Groups assign clear roles, mirroring how responsibility is shared in real research teams.

  3. Integrity and quality in practice

Apply the principles from the workshops to planning, recording and reviewing the project.

  4. Documented work

Keep a clear, traceable record of decisions, data and changes.

  5. Instructor feedback

Receive structured feedback from instructors as the project develops.

  6. Final group deliverable

Complete and present a final deliverable on the last day of the programme.
